Every operation performed locally in your browser:

  • Requires no server computations.
  • Generates no COβ‚‚ from data centers.
  • Works instantly without network delays.
  • Keeps your data completely private.

Quick Start: The First 5 Minutes

Step 1: Getting to Know the Interface

1. Select an Action Category

All tools are grouped into categories for convenience. Go to the desired category:

πŸ’‘ You can go directly via a link, e.g.: `/en/?category=text-processing`

2. Choose an Operation

Each category contains a list of available operations. For example, in Text Cleaning you will find:

  • Remove HTML Tags
  • Remove Emojis
  • Remove Empty Lines
  • Remove Extra Spaces
  • and others

Simply click on the button with the operation name.

3. Set Operation Parameters (if needed)

Some operations have additional settings:

  • Number of spaces when replacing tabs.
  • Separator for joining lines.
  • Case when converting text.
  • Output format for data extraction.

These parameters appear after selecting an operation.

4. Use "Selection Only"

If you need to apply an operation not to the entire text, but only to a part of it:

  1. Select the desired fragment in the Editor field.
  2. Check the "Selection Only" box.
  3. Click the operation button.

The operation will be performed only on the selected text, the rest will remain unchanged.

Global Operations

In addition to category-specific tools, there are two universal operations always available:

Find and Replace

  • Search and replace text with regular expression support.
  • Case-sensitive option.
  • Global replacement of all occurrences.

Scripts

  • Save sets of typical transformations for reuse.
  • Create complex text processing chains.
  • Use additional capabilities unavailable in standard operations.
  • Write scripts in JavaScript with access to libraries (arquero, formulajs, etc.).

πŸš€ Scripts are a powerful tool for automating routine tasks and implementing non-standard transformations.

Brief Workflow:

  1. Paste text into the editor field (or upload a file).
  2. Select a category β†’ operation β†’ adjust parameters.
  3. Check "Selection Only" if needed.
  4. Click the operation button β€” result appears in the same field.
  5. Copy the result with one click.

Done! You've processed text in seconds.

Tip: For complex tasks, use Scripts – they allow combining operations, working with tabular data, and executing custom processing logic.

Tip: Always back up your scripts by exporting them β€” they are stored only in your browser and may be lost if you clear your data. Import them back if needed.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Use the Undo/Redo buttons (or Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z) to step back and forth through your operation history. This replaces the old two-zone layout and lets you compare before/after states instantly without losing your place.

Step 2: Practical Tasks

Task 1: Cleaning HTML

  1. Go to Text Cleaning.
  2. Find and click the "Remove HTML Tags" button.
  3. Paste HTML: `

    Example text

    `.
  4. Click "Apply".

Task 2: Extracting Email Addresses

  1. Go to Data Extraction.
  2. Find and click the "Extract Emails" button.
  3. Paste text: `Contacts: teacher@university.edu, student@uni.edu`.
  4. Click "Apply".

Task 3: Sorting a List

  1. Go to Sorting.
  2. Find and click the "Sort Lines" button.
  3. Paste the list:
    apple
    banana
    orange
  4. Click "Apply".

Task 4: Changing Text Case

  1. Go to Case Conversion.
  2. Find and click the "Change Text Case" button.
  3. Select "Title Case".
  4. Paste: `example text for conversion`.
  5. Click "Apply".

Step 3: Save Frequently Used Tools

  • Browser bookmark = quick access to the desired category.
  • Share a link to a category for collaboration.

Find and Replace

The "Find and Replace" tool is a powerful function available universally across all categories. While individual operations address specific tasks, "Find and Replace" enables high-level, customizable transformations that standard operations may not cover, significantly expanding the toolkit's flexibility.

How to Use:

  1. Find and click the "Find and Replace" button on the main toolbar.
  2. A "Find and Replace" modal window will open.
  3. Enter the text or pattern to find in the "Find" field.
  4. Enter the replacement text in the "Replace with" field.
  5. Configure parameters:
    • Case Sensitive: Makes the search case-sensitive.
    • Use Regular Expressions (RegEx): Treats the "Find" field as a regular expression pattern, unlocking powerful pattern matching.
    • Global Search: Replaces all occurrences of the pattern in the entire text. If unchecked (and "Use Regular Expressions" is enabled), only the first occurrence will be replaced.
  6. Click "Apply" to execute the operation.

Standard and Advanced Scenarios:

Standard scenarios typically involve literal text replacement (e.g., replacing all "old_word" with "new_word"). The real power unfolds with Regular Expressions (RegEx).

Advanced Use Cases (with Regular Expressions):

For these examples, the "Use Regular Expressions" checkbox must be enabled.

  • Replace Spaces with Line Breaks: Convert a space-separated list into a line-separated list.
    • Find: `\s+` (matches one or more whitespace characters).
    • Replace with: `\n`.
  • Replace Spaces with Tabs: Convert spaces between words into tab characters.
    • Find: `(\w+)\s+(\w+)` (captures two words separated by spaces).
    • Replace with: `$1\t$2` (replaces the space with a tab using captured groups).
  • Insert Line Breaks After Punctuation: Add a new line after periods followed by a space (for basic sentence splitting).
    • Find: `(\. )`.
    • Replace with: `$1\n`.
  • Replacing Special Characters (using escape sequences): Replace all tab characters with four spaces.
    • Find: `\t`.
    • Replace with: ` ` (Four spaces).
  • Replacing Line Breaks: Replace Unix line breaks (`\n`) with Windows line breaks (`\r\n`).
    • Find: `\n`.
    • Replace with: `\r\n`.
  • Using Capture Groups for Complex Reordering: Swap two parts of a string separated by, for example, a colon.
    • Find: `^([^:]+):(.*)$` (captures everything up to the first `:` and everything after it).
    • Replace with: `$2: $1` (swaps the captured groups).
  • Removing Leading/Trailing Spaces in Each Line: Replace leading/trailing spaces/tabs in each line.
    • Find: `^\s+|\s+$` (matches spaces/tabs at the start OR end of a line).
    • Replace with: (Leave empty).
    • Options: Global search, multi-line mode (if supported).

These advanced techniques enable complex restructuring, cleaning, and reformatting of text beyond the scope of predefined operations, making "Find and Replace" an indispensable tool for challenging tasks.

Service Status

Txtly Text Tools runs entirely in the browser – with no server-side processing of your data. This means:

  • Maximum Privacy – your data never leaves your device.
  • No Centralized API – errors are usually related to the browser or data volume.

If a tool "freezes" – try refreshing the page or reducing the text volume (we recommend up to 10 MB).
